Socotra Trip Cost: What’s Included and What to Budget For

Plan your Socotra trip budget: explore what our 8-day expedition includes and the separate costs of flights, visas and optional hotel accommodation

October 5, 2026

How much does a trip to Socotra cost?

Our 8-day / 7-night Socotra expedition costs USD 1,989 per traveler with the Non-Refundable fare and USD 2,189 per traveler with the Flexible fare

That price covers your time on the island. Flights, the visa fee where it applies, optional extras, travel insurance and personal spending are separate, so your total depends on where you fly from and what you add

This guide explains what the expedition price includes, what you pay separately, and how to build a realistic budget before you book. You can check live dates and prices on the 8-day Socotra tour page

The expedition price: Non-Refundable or Flexible

Both fares give you the same expedition: the same itinerary, guides, camps and meals. The difference is the price and the refund terms

  • Non-Refundable: USD 1,989 per traveler, the lowest price, without a refund if you cancel
  • Flexible: USD 2,189 per traveler, USD 200 more, with refund terms if your plans change

Read the cancellation policy before you choose. Your booking is confirmed once full payment is received, and all public prices are shown in US dollars

What the expedition price includes

The expedition price covers the full island programme:

  • Airport transfers on Socotra, coordinated with your confirmed flights
  • Local 4x4 transport throughout the expedition
  • Local guides and a support team
  • Meals and drinking water, prepared by a kitchen team that travels with a fully equipped kitchen in a dedicated vehicle
  • Camping equipment: single and double tents with a sleeping mattress, pillow and blanket
  • Protected-area entrance fees
  • Starlink internet for all our travelers at no additional charge, subject to connection and operating conditions

Camping is the main accommodation on the expedition. Read our camping in Socotra guide to see what nights at camp are like

What is not included

Plan for these costs on top of the expedition price:

  • Flights to and from Socotra, and any connecting flights to Jeddah
  • The visa fee, where a visa is required
  • Optional hotel accommodation or other extras you select
  • Travel insurance
  • Personal expenses

Flights to Socotra

Flights are priced separately from the expedition. Direct flights to Socotra currently operate from Jeddah with Yemenia Airways on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Fares depend on availability at the time of booking. Flights can be booked through us as an Authorized Yemenia Airways Sales Agent, and we match them to your expedition dates

Remember to include the cost of reaching Jeddah from your home city. For flight days and booking, see our guide to flights to Socotra from Jeddah

Visa cost

The current Socotra visa fee is USD 200 per traveler where a visa is required. It applies to every traveler who needs a visa, children included, and appears as a separate line in your booking

In our bookings, passport holders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen do not need the Socotra visa, so no visa fee is added for them. Our team coordinates the visa for everyone else after the expedition and flights are confirmed. Read the Socotra visa guide for the full process

Optional hotel accommodation

For the final night, you can continue camping or choose a hotel at an additional charge. The available options and their prices are shown during booking, so you can see the effect on your total before you pay

Personal expenses and travel insurance

Set aside a budget for personal spending, such as souvenirs, snacks and drinks beyond the meals provided, and anything you buy on the way

Travel insurance is not included. Choose a policy that suits a remote island trip with hiking, camping and 4x4 travel, and check what it covers before you depart

How to calculate your total budget

Add up your costs in this order:

  • The expedition fare for each traveler: USD 1,989 Non-Refundable or USD 2,189 Flexible
  • Flights: from your home city to Jeddah, and Jeddah to Socotra and back, at the fares available when you book
  • The visa fee, USD 200 per traveler, if your nationality requires a visa
  • Any optional hotel night or extras you select during booking
  • Travel insurance and personal expenses

For example, two travelers who need a visa and choose the Non-Refundable fare pay USD 3,978 for the expedition and USD 400 in visa fees, a total of USD 4,378 before flights, optional extras, insurance and personal spending

When you compare trips, compare what is included as well as the headline price: transport, guides, meals, camping equipment, entrance fees and airport transfers are already part of ours

Group and private trips

Our scheduled expedition is for small groups of up to 20 guests. If you want your own dates or a private itinerary, ask about a private Socotra tour. Private trip prices depend on group size, trip length, dates and the arrangements you choose
